Oct 24, 2013 · Does anyone have much experience machining G10/FR 4 plastic material? I know carbide is pretty much the only way to go but I was wondering about feeds and speeds. I basically need to first square up the material, cut some pockets with 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2" endmills. I also have to drill (15) .067" dia holes thru almost 1" of material. Build Surface. While there’s not much keeping you from using the 1.75mm ONYX in other machines, i printed it with the Mark Two using settings that closely match what i use on the other episodes. Markforged uses a print temperature of 275°C and an unheated, but enclosed bed with a Garolite surface, covered with glue stick. Since the mounting surface was angled and uneven, I had to put down some plastic film on deck, cover the ss base with more plastic film, and then press it down on thickened epoxy. I remember doing two "pressings" to get some small voids filled in. It really needs to have the visible part of the sides gel-coated, whenever I get "a round tuit."

You will need a build plate that can transfer heat to the Garolite build surface, but it’s worth it for the bed adhesion you will get. Using this product with other than PEEK filaments might cause over adhesion and damage your build surface. Follow the instructions found in the technical data sheet for best results. I print on tuffnol (garolite)(g10). I use thin sheets glued to glass to make it flat. With the bridge they say 80C bed temps, but when I set the bed at 80C, the surface of the bed is 40C, so I cranked it to 120C and the warping is almost gone. Next thing would be to build an enclosed print chamber and heat it to completely elminate warping. MAGIGOO HT has been designed and tested to work with build-plate temperature of 150 °C or lower. I fabricated a battery terminal board and an antenna connection board with off-the-shelf brass hardware and Garolite scraps. When the wiring was at about the 80% point and everything seemed to fit I added the front panel made of black Garolite. Garolite takes the guesswork out of 3D printing with nylon and nylon-based filaments such as NylonX and NylonG. Achieve strong bed adhesion with this reliable build surface.
